Of Opensource, Enterprises and Open Enterprises
Every enterprise today knows what open source is all about. They also understand the broader value proportion that is can offer. But, when it comes to adoption of open source products, either free or commercial, the major pull comes from the cost reduction generally associated with it. One important advantage this is generally overlooked is the feasibility and ease of integration with other applications and customization.
Integration and customization, however, is not limited to just open source software. Some proprietary format/protocol based products address the integration aspect by providing web service APIs. Such integration is limited by the extent of access to data/functionality provided by the vendor. With open source and open standards based products on the other hand, there is virtually unlimited scope for integration and customization.
For an enterprise, integration between various business applications could yield significant productivity benefits. The benefit of such integration with a messaging/collaboration application is more compelling. A truly 'open enterprise' today can harness the power of open source and open standards based software and create a seamless integration among business applications for CRM, Collaboration, ERP, Content/document management and their intranet portal to improve the efficiency of their workforce across departments.

Spicebird Update Progress?
What is Synovel's plan to monetize Spicebird? It appears your upgrade/update efforts have stalled, and I just want Synovel to know that at this point I'd be willing to pay a small annual fee to keep the improvements coming. If perhaps you could have a premium and a free service, where the premium service gets stable feature upgrades more often, then I think a lot of Spicebird fans would go for that. As it stands, I have a lot of time invested into customizing Spicebird, so I'd like to see far better support and updating.
Upgraded Beta 0.7 Spicebird
Upgraded to the next level, Yes I agreed this new version of Spicebird is much more better and easy to access especially making some blogs, instant messaging plus a Google Map on the screen. Spicebird make it more feature rich, interesting to use and widely acceptable. Thumbs up!
